The team oversees a wide range of both strategic and operational work health and safety activities ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

 

About the role

We are currently seeking a workers’ compensation and injury management specialist to manage Wesley Mission’s psychological injuries

 

Reporting to our Work Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Managing a portfolio of active workers compensation claims ensuring all claims are proactively and effectively managed to ensure a positive return to work outcome and claim cost minimisation
  • Collaborating with the WHS Team, Wellbeing Officer to reduce injuries and time off
  • Developing and improving return to work tools, resources and business processes
  • Devising and delivering workers compensation and injury management training
  • Maintain compliance with Wesley Mission’s Return to Work policy and program guidelines

 

Supported by your colleagues in the Work Health & Safety team you will also experience additional support from our Wellbeing Officer and Chaplains, who offer wrap around wellbeing and pastoral support for injured workers.

 

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in a health discipline (Rehabilitation counsellor/consultant, psychologist, occupational therapist, registered nurse)
  • Completion of SIRA return to work training
  • Experience in psychological injury management, occupational rehabilitation or return to work coordination
  • Comprehensive understanding of the workers compensation scheme and relevant legislative requirements
  • A strong ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with injured workers, managers, Wesley Mission’s workers compensation insurer, medical and rehabilitation providers
  • Maintain comprehensive records ensuring accuracy, currency and compliance with privacy requirements
  • Current valid NSW driver’s license
  • Ability to travel to both metro and regional areas within NSW and the ACT when needed
  • Current Working with Children Check clearance or willingness to obtain
