Help wrap a family in comfort and hope this Christmas.

This Christmas will be very different for Kate and her four-year-old son Elliot.  

Last year, they were among Australia’s ‘hidden homeless’, having fled their family home due to escalating violence. 

“I was in survival mode and just trying to get through each day,” Kate recalls. “I had been forced to quit working, and my ex-partner had exhausted my savings.” 

When Kate first arrived at Wesley Mission’s crisis refuge with Elliot, she remembers the moment clearly: “I was terrified I never thought I’d find myself in that position. But as I stepped through the door, I felt a sense of relief, like there was finally some light at the end of the tunnel.” 

Now, fourteen months later, their lives have been transformed through the support they received. They have a safe home and a chance at a new life. 

“I am safe and calm and empowered,” Kate shares. “My son is thriving and catching up on missed milestones rapidly. We have a wonderful life filled with love and peace and joy. At the start of last year that seemed impossible, and yet we’ve been living like this for months already.” 

This transformation was made possible through the support of people who cared enough to help.
