Gift in will

A gift in your will makes an impact that will last for generations

Support Our Work | Preparing Your Will

Your impact can last for generations

For some people, a gift in their will is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to give to charity. A gift to Wesley Mission enables us to extend our 200-year legacy of supporting people in need and investing in community supports and safety nets that help people thrive.

FAQs

What’s the difference between a gift in your will, a legacy gift and a charitable bequest?
They are all the same thing. A gift in your will is a future donation to charity that you record in your will. The term ‘legacy gift’ is used because you’re leaving a legacy of generosity by including a gift to charity in your will. A charitable bequest is the legal term for a gift to charity in your will.
I don’t have a will. How do I make one?
Speak to an independent solicitor before making a will. Or come along to one of our Wesley Wills days to get independent advice and prepare your will at a fraction of the normal cost.
I already have a will. Do I need to make a new one?
It’s a good idea to regularly review your will as your circumstances change, so it accurately reflects your current wishes. If you just want to make a small addition or change – like including a gift to us in your will – your solicitor can help you create a codicil. This is an addition or supplement that explains, modifies or revokes a will or part of one.
Will my gift be taxed?
No. Tax is not paid on gifts made to registered charities, including bequests. Gifts made to charities in your will don’t incur inheritance tax.
Can I choose a specific area of Wesley Mission to support?
Yes. You can specify if you want your gift to go to a particular program or service area, or you can leave a gift for general purposes and we’ll use it where there is the biggest need.
