Why become a youth mentor?

Investing time in the youth of today will help create a better tomorrow - for a young person and their local community.

Our youth mentors support and develop positive relationships with young people aged 12-21 years, providing community based mentoring, guidance and a listening ear. Unlike many other youth mentoring programs, we’re not connected with a school or the criminal justice system and we welcome applications from volunteers of all ages, genders and walks of life.

This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to spend time out in the community one-on-one with a young person, help guide them on their next steps and broaden their horizons.

Is youth mentoring right for you?

This is a one-on-one mentoring program that focuses on supporting a young person through the crucial transition of the teenage years. Our volunteer youth mentors can come from any age, background or gender with varied skillsets, hobbies and interests.

Having a diverse pool of volunteers means we can make better matches and the young people we work with can benefit from mentors with a wide range of expertise and experiences. All we ask is that you are over the age of 21, can commit to a minimum of 12 months, and:

  • Are available for training
  • Complete a criminal history check and working with children check
  • Are able to complete activities that engage young people
  • Have a current driver’s licence
  • Have Australian citizenship, permanent residency or select visa types – call us to learn more about which visas are accepted.
