Funding and support

We provide home care services for older Australians with Home Care Packages (HCP) and through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).

What is a Home Care Package (HCP)?

Government funded support to help people with moderate to complex care needs who want to stay in their own home. Home care packages are designed to give people choice and flexibility around the type of care and support they receive. You’ll have a personalised budget that lets you decide how you spend your funding, so you can make sure your care is tailored to you.

What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)?

Subsidised support for older Australians looking for some extra help with everyday tasks at home. The Commonwealth Home Support Programme is designed to work with you to help you maintain your independence. You’ll still be expected to contribute something to the cost of your care, depending on the type of support and provider. If you have more complex needs, a HCP may be more suitable.

Not sure what funding and support is right for you? Our experienced care consultants can guide you through the process.

What types of packages are available?
There are four different types of Home Care Packages available, depending on your needs:
  • Level 1 supports people with basic care needs
  • Level 2 supports people with low-level care needs
  • Level 3 supports people with intermediate care needs
  • Level 4 supports people with high care needs.
What if I have additional needs?
There are supplements available to make sure you get the care you need, including:
  • Dementia and cognition supplement
  • Veterans supplement (for veterans with service-related mental health conditions)
  • Oxygen supplement
  • Enteral feeding supplement.
If you’re eligible for a supplement, we will receive extra funding to make sure you receive the care you need. You don’t need to apply – we’ll apply on your behalf.
Who pays for Home Care Packages?
The Government pays for most of the aged care in Australia. You may be asked to contribute towards your care costs, but only if you can afford it. We’ll discuss any fees with you and make sure you agree on the cost before we provide services – so you can be confident there’ll be no surprises.
Can I get an interpreter?

If you speak a language other than English, you can call the Translating and Interpreting Services (TIS) on 131 450. They’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and cover more than 100 languages.

Or, you can call the National Contact Centre on 1800 200 422 between 8am and 8pm on weekdays or between 10am and 2pm on Saturdays. They will organise an interpreter through TIS to support our contact centre.
