Who it's for

 

Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors supports older Australians who may feel isolated and would benefit from regular social interaction. This program is designed for: 

  • Seniors living independently at home. 
  • Residents in aged care facilities. 
  • Older adults experiencing loneliness or reduced social contact. 
  • Individuals seeking meaningful companionship through shared activities. 

 

 

This service is free of charge for:  

 

  • Seniors who receive government-subsidised residential aged care or  
  • Those that have a Home Care Package (including older people who are approved and on a waiting list).

FAQs

How do you know the person visiting me is safe?
Your safety is our priority. A full national police check and personal reference checks are undertaken on every volunteer visitor before they’re matched with an older person. 
What do I do if I feel my Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitor isn’t a good match for me?
If you feel your aged care volunteer visitor or the service isn’t right for you, please contact your Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Coordinator. 
Can I ask my visitor to do chores or run errands for me?
No, your aged care volunteer visitor is there to provide companionship and social support. If you require assistance with housework or attending appointments, please speak with your care provider.  
What happens if I am sick or not up for a visit?
You can communicate your needs directly with your aged care volunteer visitor. Alternatively, you can contact your Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Coordinator or care provider.
