Proposed concept design

In June 2019Wesley Mission lodged a Development Application with the City of Sydney to refurbish the Wesley Edward Eagar Centre

The Development Application for the upgrade work was approved in October 2019.

The next phase involved relocating the people we support to other temporary facilities in Sydney whilst construction commenced on site.

With the refurbishment almost complete, wlook forward to moving into the final stage of the project, by reoccupying the new and improved centre, and welcoming the first people who will receive a new level of dignity and support.

The upgrade enables Wesley Mission to make a substantial change to the level of care provided with the following amendments:

  • An upgrade to interiors throughout the centre
  • reconfigured bedrooms to include ensuites
  • expanded outdoor terrace
  • new consult rooms
  • an accessible lift
  • more communal areas
  • a new caféwhere clients and the community can share an inviting communal space
  • refurbishment of staff amenities.

The new and improved centre will enable the Wesley Mission team to focus on the long-term impact and positive change the lodge can have on client’s lives. It will also allow Wesley Mission to better manage the real human issues around homelessness for a wider range of clients

Larger private rooms and updated kitchenettes and laundry spaces have created a more comfortable environment for clients and staff alike, enabling the range and level of services to be intensified. The improved facilities give the Wesley Mission team a chance to gain a greater understanding of each client’s needs and ultimately improve client outcomes.
